Our Story
At James Grey Interiors, we believe that every space has a story waiting to be told, and we’re here to help you tell yours.
Founded in 2012 by NCIDQ-certified interior designer Jonathan James Berry, our firm is rooted in the vibrant heart of Playa del Carmen, where we infuse the stunning beauty of the Riviera Maya into our designs. Jonathan first embarked on his design journey in his hometown of Scottsdale, Arizona, where he honed his skills and had the ablity to work on numerous multi-million dollar projects throughout the valley. However, his passion for interior design was ignited in childhood; he was often found rearranging his bedroom furniture to discover optimal layouts, and as a young adult, he eagerly redesigned his mother’s home with fresh arrangements at every visit. Additionally, Jonathan and his mother would often take family trips to Mexico during his adolescence, where he fell in love with the rich culture and beautiful Caribbean landscapes.
This innate drive for creating harmonious spaces and admiration for the vibrancy of Caribbean living led him to launch James Grey Interiors in Playa del Carmen, where architectural innovation and exquisite decor find their perfect blend. Since its inception, the firm has grown into an internationally-acclaimed design studio, with our work featured on platforms like HGTV. Our commitment to personalization and quality remains the cornerstone of our approach, allowing us to transform homes into timeless retreats.
